Weekly Media – Watch this space

Hey hey my little fruityliciousnessess…

17th

This article marks a somewhat ‘comeback posting’ for me after my brief vacation in the land of exams: freak sunny weather, very little alcohol and equally stressed, demoralised and somewhat tetchy ‘natives’. BUT, since that is all now out of the way and I’ve returned home to the freedom of drab and dreary weather, mixed with the joys and freedoms of exam-less life, I have to say is: ‘Let the good times roll, and the frolicking continue!’ In essence, my summer (‘Of Love’?!) has begun very much in earnest, today being the first day in a week where I’ve had more than 5 hours sleep and in my own bed. Drawback is of course that I now have no money for all my ventures this summer. Now, knowing the spendings of more than one of the readers/writers/site owner of SPIELOFF I’m pretty damn sure that there’s a lot more people in the same boat: penniless, homeless and bloody hungry. Now it seems that Mr. Steven ‘site-owner’ Vu can help you, regarding the hunger with his new burger deals, and as for homelessness, try ‘Shelter’, they do a lot of good work around the country and especially in London, poignant methinks for my column…

Weekly Media – National Gallery – John Virtue

17th

Right, penning a relatively quick article this week due to exams and revision, but I really wanted to bring up the John Virtue exhibition they have at the National Gallery at the moment. Now I know this may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but either way I’m going to write about it anyway as:

1) It’s absolutely amazing
2) It’s free
3) I’ve already started so you know….

First things first though actually, this article has a relatively short shelf-life, mainly due to the fact that this exhibition finishes on the 5th of June, so get your arses down there pronto.

Weekly Media – Cove Bar – Covent Garden

17th

After spending much of my past week in a drunken muddle, running around in the sinister darkness of night suitably camo’€™d up and spending only two hours on average a night in slumber, I thought it would only be right that I should invest in some good quality chill time. (And consequently ignoring my impending doom, namely my exams’€¦) So pulling out all the stops and immersing myself in my own knowledge of all the twists and turns of London town I decided to visit what was formerly known as my first watering hole in one of London’€™s most vibrant sections; Covent Garden. So ok, maybe some of you are thinking Covent Garden with all its hustle bustle street art madness is hardly the most chilled out place to go, but on contrary, sitting on the balcony of ‘€˜The Cove’€™ and watching all the people go past in the sunshine happens to be one of the best things in the world, even more so when accompanied by fine friends and an even better lady.

Weekly Media – Institute of Contemporary Arts

17th

Chin chin my lovable ragamuffins and scallywag extraordinaires!

Right, straight in knee-deep into a puddle of pretentiousness today as there is just simply not enough waffle in the entire world to make the Institute of Contemporary Arts anything more than a second home for luvvies and uber-pretentious art students in a deep-cut boho funk. That said however, it is also a super-cool place to hangout, and with a bar open until 1:00am, leather sofas, live music, and lets face it rock-chic gods and goddesses, (if you like them with neckerchiefs and leg warmers… which I do, well the leg warmer part anyway…) then membership at the ICA is simply a must.

Weekly Media – Withnail and I

17th

Tally ho kids! Yes its Thursday, and yes, I’€™m back. It may seem as if it was only two days ago that I last wrote for this website, but that’€™s probably simply down to the fact that unfortunately, it was. Unfortunate for you, and unfortunate for me. For you because you have to listen to my shit about something clearly too intellectual and too interesting for you so that you undoubtedly have no concern over, and for me because I’€™m not getting paid and I have several A Levels to pass. Although, as a certain Mr. Nicholas ‘€œI’€™m going to university at Cambridge’€¦Estate’€? Ridgman once said, ‘€œWhat’€™s in an A Level anyway?’€?

Weekly Media – Columnist – Anthony Lau

17th

Right, if Steven ‘€˜Gook, look at me I’€™m conceited’€¦’€™ Vu thinks this introduction of new columnists will boost the number of hits on his website he’€™s going to get, then he’€™s probably wrong. If however, he thinks that by enticing us all to write for him he’€™ll have more time to do his own work then I guess, he’€™s right. Although knowing that silly Vietnamese soul (if Tiffin boys are allowed to have one’€¦) of his, no doubt he’€™ll get distracted by putting up more flowers on his website. No Steven, it doesn’€™t show your feminine side, it’€™s just gay. Nice to see you’€™ve reverted to good old sixties wallpaper. Kitsch.
