Just went round to my mother’s friends house, she wanted me to check out a Sony Camcorder. Apparently it had been stolen and was selling for £100. The model number was MX30-7000 which piqued my curiosity. Not that I know model numbers off by heart(Like a true geek) but the formating was wrong, most usually come in the form of a 3 letter code such as DCR – 350(Digital Camera) or a name such as Cybershot U/P series.
Anyway, turns out it’s a camera in a camcorder’s facade. The poor guy spent hours trying to find out where to shove in his mini DV. The thing takes SD cards and is rated at 4.1 megapixels although it is probably interpolated into smitherines. Everybody knows Sony uses Sony Memory sticks, gosh.
Those Chinese Pirateers are pretty adventurous to go about trying to fake a whole camcorder. Atleast one person fell for the gag.

HYE I DON T UNDESTAND YOUR MESSAGE WHAT YOU THINK FOR THE MX30-7000 IS NOT A SONY ? IT S A PIRATE
Hi,
I have just read this article about the Sony MX30-7000 like the comment made by Boudehen Rodolphe, are you saying that this camcorder is a Sony fake.Would be grateful if you could confirm this.
Many thanks,
Pat
Sorry I thought it was clear, yes it’s a fake. There are some people selling them on Ebay as real Sony camcorders. While the components may be made by Sony it certainly is not a Sony camera.
Hey guys, i just picked one of these up from a Irish guy, i am absoloutly stoked. He told me they are selling for £1000, insisting i dont take it to a Dixons store, which i knew was crap, but i was convinced i could go and sell it on for well over the £100 i just bought it for. Anyways, i come home, look online for the cameras price, and see this, hahahaha.
Leg off !
do you have the manual of this camara? could you please send me, thanks.
hi
i was parking my car, a guy came to me to ask if i want to buy this camcoder.he said to me that the market price is 6000 pounds but he is ready to sell me for only 140 pounds.but i offered him 100 pounds which he accepted.
but still i dont know how to use this cam.coz there is no sdc.
thanks
God, there are a lot of stupid muppets about. What is it with ppl??
It’s pretty clear there’s at least 3 born every minute
They’re most probably all asian….
Simon,
‘Mick’ and Elizabeth’ don’t sound like asian names to me, only 1 out of Mark’s “3 every minute” appear to be asian. Us Brit’s are suckers when we think we are getting a bargin.
Sorry to say it but if you buy something a guy in a car park offers you then your asking for it!
Eff off with your’probably asian’ business you fucker
Well honestly if you think you are getting something for nothing you are!!! Serve you right for being greedy.
It never ceases to amaze me how dumb people are.
Frankly, as mentioned before, Muppets galore!!!!!
Jeez, don’t some people think before parting with money?
Some guy approaches you out of the blue, offering something for £100 that he says normally costs £1000..and no alarm bells ring in your heads?
Didn’t you stop to think “hmm, why isn’t he selling this on ebay or classified ads where he can get more than £100″ ?
If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck the you can be pretty certain it’s a frigging duck !!
We’ve had a variant of this con job here in Romania for at least a year now. Only they are peddling fake Canon Olympus DSLR cameras, and when you look better at them they are fake chinese Olympia cameras, rebranded Olympus DSLR. They aren’t even digital at all, and use a common film roll.
One of my friends was offered such a ’stolen’ camera about three months ago by a gipsy, at 5…10% of its claimed shop retail price, and he denied… the next day when he told me about the offer i almost kicked him for passing the opportunity but then i donned my tin foil hat and started to wonder why that guy would sell it so cheap… and i started to look around… it turned out that the chinese has been flooding Romania with fake Olympuses for at least a year or two…
even last month, i was personally approached by a gipsy ( again ?! i think is it a very profitable item for them… ) offering to sell me such a ’stolen’ camera, in the parking lot of a very busy shopping mall, i was prepared this time and i refused.
I’m not racist, I just despise greedy asians..
So you don’t despise greedy white people?
After all you only get caught by this scam if you are greedy
I used to say that there was one born every day, but after reading this thread, i now agree with the 3 a minute statistic.
Why do you hate greedy asians?
Greed is essential to modern capitalism. Without it, the economy would collapse.
I’m a greedy asian and proud of it.
What I’m not, however, is a bleeding idiot, who’d pay £100 for a stolen/fake camera from someone who approached him in a car park.
My mate was shown a laptop on the street and promptly bought it for £500. When he got the bag home it only contained old books.
I say if you’re willing to buy stolen goods then you deserve it. After all, if there was no market for stolen goods then nothing would get stolen.
I agree with the last poster (Jamie Kitson. If there was no market for such good then those gypsies or whatever you call them would not have the courage to steal or make fakes for profit. By the way London is full of con artists (who happen to be of Irish origin for some reason) that claim to give you a full box or bag and you end up with (You name it).
Advice to all:
Look after yout money, don’t let anyone make you look like a fool and always, yes always buy from reliable online or high street retailers, because if it sounds too good to be true, it probbaly is not.
Finally, Can everyone please not make any offensive comments about anyone or any race, religion and/or ethnic group.
Who are you to tell me what to do? I’m my opinion all asians should be rounded up and shot, The Irish are just as bad. Funny how we always end up with terrorists from these backwards cultures…
Agree/Disagree:
I think you and Jamie Kitson miss the point slightly…
The guy who sold a bag full of books didn’t necessarily steal a laptop, or sell a ’stolen’ laptop.
They duped a guy into thinking he was buying a laptop, but who only got books…
It may have been a laptop they legally owned… but as they have no intention of parting with it, what do they care?
Greed is the fuel for the conman… if there was no greed, there would be no conmen (who are by their very nature, greedy parasites).
The guy should think himself lucky. I was offered a bag of shit story books for a tenner, only to get home to find I’d actually been sold an Alienware laptop. Rats.
Regards,
J.
Wow that last post sounds so much like Hitler…
Is your real name Adolf?
I don’t condone terrorism, but before you condemn whole cultures please think of what caused their countries to reach their current state and who [or which superpowers] had a hand in doing so…
And yes, let’s keep on topic and try to have an objective discussion here….
Why do some individuals insist on being such darned trolls on these blogs? Someone (or three) fell for a stupid camcorder scam yet this conversation degrades so quickly to senseless racist bantering which is totally unrelated. Have some decency.
1. Simon Belial is a knob.
2. That camcorder looks so… dorky. A great big, puffy stuck-on sony badge. Bleurgh
I have, in the course of my job in a camera shop, seen these cameras with Canon, Nikon, JVC, Sony and JTEC stickers. Same camcorder, same con. One of the guys who works in the local newsagents (who we’re friendly with) was offered one of these “Canon MX7000’s” for only £250. I gave him some friendly advice . . .
These pieces of crap are showing up in Austria too. The Rumanian girl who tried to sell
me and my friend one was very dis-honest insisting it was a video cam until we pointed
out we were electronics techs. You have to be dumb and blind to believe this is a Sony
product.
As they say in Hustle, “You can’t cheat an honest man”.
I took one of these sony fakes apart…after winning it on Ebay for £30….On opening the side opposite the screen I found a very large piece of heavy solder like metal…this is to make the camera feel heavy and genuine.i took it out an dthe camera feels like its a feather. These cameras go under different name like JVC,Sony and Cannotec…also just plain TEC.
i managed to resell my one after expalining it was just a copy of a Sony.
I HAVE JUST HAD ONE OF THESE FAKE SONY CAMCORDERS COME IN MY SHOP.
THEY ARE BEING SOLD IN THE STREETS BY DODGEY PEOPLE, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FREE LUNCH, BUYER BEWARE.
Jazzie: Whether that partcular laptop is stolen or not is irrelivent. If someone comes up to you in Camden and offers you a very cheap laptop that they need to get rid of you must assume that it is stolen.
zeros like Simon are the one creating extreme terrorism…
will you please bomb him for me? Please!!!
errr, simon:
shut the fuck up – no one asked for ur opinion so just piss off back to ur chave lil shit hole.
stupid fuck. go on. go and fuck urself u stupid racist dickhead. ppl like U ought to be rounded up and shot.i absoloutely despise ppl like u. UR the kind of people who stir up terrorist feeling.
^^^^^^^^^^^ meant chav lil shit hole, sorry
and again, go die simon
what u mean by all asian muppet???????
wat u mean all asian muppet
Fuck you, you fucking fuck
I was going to bid on this on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7539448994&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
but i thought i would look it up, to see how much they really cost, and see if i could get a bargin for it. Then i came across this!
I just saw the same “camera” in Latvia (Europe) branded as JVC mx30-7000
also, a guy was trying to sell ir for 450euros…
HALLOW
I HAVE A CAMERA WITH MX30-7000 REFERENCE
MY QUESTIONS ARE :IS THIS PRODUCT A VERITABLE ONE OR NO?
IS IT A SONY PRODUCT OR NO (PIRAT)?
Looks like I fell for it, as I just bought one on e.bay. Just what will it do and what won’t it do. I needed a small camcorder for local events. Nothing fancy, just a record to keep. Will this cope with that?
ok it’s a fake camera we just want to know if it could work or not ????if yes is there somebody who has the notice??
Sorry I thought this was clear…
It’s a fake Sony camcorder, it can be used as a normal digital camera. Like most digital cameras it has a video mode. It won’t be able to record for a long period of time at a good quality. (Most likely 5-10 minutes with the size of a postage stamp).
If you have bought one and have further additions/corrections do comment.
Just don’t buy it.
Hi just to let you know my son just lost £200 bying the mx30-7000 and i am now on my way back to try and get his money back as he is under 18 the cam is nothing more than a fake and even the batterys are flat not even rechargeble
Please be aware of anyone selling you this item
Please can anyone tell me about the Maxim MX30-7000 is this related?
Just been conned outta £200 at an auction and when i’ve researched the product online i can get no information as to its real value?
Does anyone know?
I’m with you I’m afraid lisa. Happened this weekend. These crooks are no doubt touring the country in the build up to xmas. People – DO NOT ATTEND THESE AUCTIONS!
Why won’t you kids learn?
If anything you buy is marked as MX30-7000 and you paid over 50 quid then chances are you were conned. It doesn’t matter whether it was marked Sony, JVC or Maxim.
Well the international boom has hit the states. I just got conned for $180.00. The camera is pure junk. It was a Canon DV7000. I feel like I was raped. I wish I would see the asshole again.
POOR MEN……………..
THE THING LOOKS GOOD BUT THE STICKER SAYS IT ALL
IT REALLY MUST BE A SHUM……..
OH MAN WHEN?????????
YOU CAN REALLY CHEAT AN HONEST MAN!
I’m currently holding, in my hand a genuine fake Sony MX-7000
I was offered it yesterday by someone I actually know quite well, so I’m presuming he doesn’t know it’s fake either and is just trying to make a quick profit.
Anyway I said I’ll take it home and have a play with it first before I part with any hard earned cash. Turns out the camera is crap (no way is it 4.1 megapixel) and the video quality is absolutely shocking. In fact my Sony K750i mobile phone takes better pictures and video and it’s only 2 megapixel.
This one is stamped MX-7000 and not MX30-7000 but it’s probably the same model. Funny enough it has a sticker on the bottom (placed on wonky) saying it’s a Sony DCR-PC350! It takes standard AA batteries and has a crappy 64Mb SD card and the manual that comes in the un-branded case has unsurprisingly got the front page ripped off – obviously that was the only place that still showed the ‘real’ make and model.
Always test things before you buy them!
I too got done on the scam today. some ass cam and showed me the beautiful sony mx – 7000 but this smart ass played it real smart. he had genuine sone stickers on with genuine sony model tag. which i phoned my brother to check on the net. and guess wut he tell me its worth a £1000 on the net. Now clever old me just bemused by the beauty of the product parted with yes a £140, which I feel a bit better about by reading that other people were also scammed all round the country. Still I’m a ponse and I need to learn my lesson. Kill assholes who come to your shop with apparently amazing goods to sell.
hah… same happend to me… lucky me i just took it to try, i was going to buy ir while searchin for software for that cam i found this web
Yep, me too!! Just got stopped by an Irish fella on the street who had a ‘JVC MX7000′ for sale…. ‘don’t ask me where i got it!’ Unfortunately, I was looking to buy a digital camcorder this week and he got me at the right time! So, £160 from the cashpoint later, I have a pretty worthless piece of Chinese junk. Would warn people NOT to do the same!!
simon your a prik, i’m part irish. i’m not a terroist, my father was not a terrorist 99.9999% of asians/irsh whatever are not terrorist.
fact is that rich capitalist contries like America, England act in a way that will only provoke attacks against them.
if a country came into mine and started killing my family i would damn well bomb them back, i dont condone terroist fuks, but at the same time it is almost always rich superpower that are to blame.
Hey guys,
I got saved today. Came across two Irish youngsters who gave the same Sony PC 350 bullshit, or whatever, and agreed to part with it for 100 Euros. Something in my mind stopped me, and here I am reading all your comments who have given in to the temptation. It’s a lesson learnt for me too, though I didn’t actually burn my fingers. My sympathies.
Thanks for all your posts.
My mate rang me from pub this evening saying a friend hers had one to sell as they had been made redundant (some friend) … and she was tempted. Cynical as ever, I browsed and found this site. We’re in Cardiff so yet another scam has hit the Welsh Capital.
Cheers ladies and gents and a happy christmas to you all.
Just been had over by a couple of pikeys. Bought ‘Sony’ MX7000 Digital Camcorder for the bargain price of £260 for two! What a great xmas we will have! Loads of money for two pieces of crap that do nothing. Please please do not buy anything from irishmen in a white van.
God I wish I’d seen this site before….
brought two of a bloke in a blue corsa in hasslemere near guildford watchout for him he’s an arab looking chavvy. Made 100 pound on both mine. BOOYA
Hi everyone!
It´s a sad story, my brother just called me and he said that he just made a very good deal, and he got a present for me. He bought a Sony MX7000 he paid 200Euro for one. It was two guys with Russian accent, please tell all your friends and relatives that have a shop/takeaway in small town dont buy anything!!!!

Watch out Guys for the Sony MX7000 camcoder scam in London
An elderly man and his young grandson offered me a Sony MX7000 4.1Meg Pixels for a bargain from 150 down to £80 at Welling in South East London. My instinct told me this may be Dodgy though it was mouth watering. I told them I’ll get cash from the ATM. They claim to be Irish???
After asking them couple of questions which they answered I then inspected the camera and manual with cables very well interesting enough its got a SONY 1 year Guarantee card. I then left them I left them without buying it though it looks mint.
Only to find this site on the web after a quick check.
I wish I have seen this site earlier but I’ll be on the look out for them also warning all mates about this.
Hi all,

Digby
Hello all !
nearly bought one of these 2night!
But I knew something was wrong when it still recorded with the lens cap on…nice! haha!
That Sony logo just sucks you right in!
what a piece of crap…the whole “lens” is just for show – actual lens is underneath and the size of a pin head! Tacky Blue menu screen!
Absolute bag of crap!
Oh and the viewfinder….such clarity! LoL!
Those of u who say “they work fine with new batteries and card” !! Ha Ha Honestly…thats like saying if u buy a new battery 4 ur C reg Ford Fiesta it feels like driving a…Rolls !!
You’ve been ripped !! just admit it and go buy youselves a proper camera instead of buying upgrades 4 ya SnIdeS!
ye got me tday aswell, some spanish truck driver stopped in a car said he had got it from his boss to sell on was worth £600+.bargain at £100 i think not lol, ohwell once bitten twice shy.
I recently bought the sony mx 7000 on ebay for £90, i looked the model up on google and luckily came across this site and called the woman back. I think she genuinely didnt know about it and gave me a full refund but she then went on to say that she would just put it back on ebay so BEWARE OF THE SCAM-CORDER !!!!!
Damn, same thing happened to me. Same Sony MX 7000 camcorder. That’s £100 down the drain. Oh well another lesson learnt.
SONY DCR-PC350/mx7000
JVC MX 3000 or 7000,
CANON DV1000/7000 or MX1000/7000 or MXi10i/1000/7000
All the above camcorders are fake, and can be easy to spot, as they have 1 large and 1 small lens on the front. The large lens is a fake, it does nothing.
Take care folks.
Hahaha! i have 2 of them. Some french guy sell me
this crap from the car in Ireland. He was so nice and friendly…i hope i will meet him again…
hahahahaha!

Was just googling to find user manual and came across this site…….bugger
do you have the manual of this camara? could you please send me, may please in early ,
thanks
I recently bought one.
The camera is a fake but still works well, except for the focus. I was wondering where I could buy a Li-Ion battery for it as the instructions booklet says it can use a Li-Ion battery or two AA bateries. Does anyone actually have a Li-Ion battery for this camera or is it just made up.
And by the way, I do have two other digital cameras, I am just using this one as a webcam.

hi, sorry to hear racist comments, but, i do feel when this counry runs into trouble who foots the bill for over crowding, i do not blame people for coming over here to work. i blame idiots like Blair and co. Hitler never thought of that, invade, no guns, just a suitcase would have done the trick. As for the cameras found one in a rubbish bin. do not buy from street traders of any kind, unless it just a newspaper.

Bosh. Looks like there’s more than 3 born every minute.
BTW it’s obvious that Greedy Asians are *far* worse than Greedy English – if you’re not Asian. Otherwise it’s the other guy, over there —>
In UK we have another scam which seems to be dying down now: “designer watches” ( names like Longines etc ) sold by smoothies in suits in motorway services car parks – “just finished a trade show, got a few left over that we were giving away to ppl who bought a Porsche/Bentley/whatever”. They try for £100+ but you can get the same thing in camden market for maybe £10-£20. Of course they are fakes!!
I just got one of those shit cameras for free of a mate.Bastard cunt im gonna shove it right up his jaxxie.Good joke though.
I’ve bought one yesterday for 200 euro the fannny think is that somlan before tray to sel mi this camcorder and I refuse. He was very nice man I am looking forward to meet him agen

muchas gracias
I have just bought a Maxim mx30-7000 on e-bay for £20-, brand new in box,sd card etc etc. What a mug I hear you say, I have made attempts to get my money back, but then found that although there is no driver to view the film on my PC, if you put the sd card into the slot on your computer or buy a “universal card reader” (Jessops do one for £16-) the computer plays the film (much to my suprise!!!)
does anyone have the Software CD for this MX30-7000 camcoder ? if yes plz give me the link to download the software
Guy’s! Cool it for a minute. For those of you who mention, twats, looser, idiots or even greedy Asians – etc… Have in fact fell victim or committed similar offences throughout one’s life. ‘TRUE’? – Weather it be sweets, eggs or even a SONY 42″ Bravia, we are all driven by this incompremisable instinct to better one’s financial situation. I disagree with matey boy’s comments about foolishness even gullerberness since 90% of us do it…
Blame the media! Blame Society! Which ever route you take, somewhere, somehow, something will always crop up tempting our little tiny money pockets. Society forces these issues. Having said that, learn from these mistakes. To put it bluntly and without jeopardizing one’s integrity, if you’re approached by a guy you’ve never seen, heard, or even looked at before. CHIP! ! ! AVOUIR
PS. For those of you ponderong over my comments – remember ! If you had the money, you’d easily buy items needed..
